The midnight close every night of the week is unusual for a restaurant of this kind and genuinely useful on Miami Beach, where a lot of serious kitchens stop considerably earlier than the neighbourhood around them does. A late pizza at eleven here is a real option seven days a week.

Lucali holds a Bib Gourmand in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide USA, which is the designation for good quality cooking at good value rather than a star. That is the correct frame for this restaurant: it is not attempting fine dining and it is not priced like it, and the recognition is for doing a simple thing at a high level consistently.
The practical implication is about expectation-setting. People who arrive at a Bib Gourmand pizzeria expecting a tasting-menu experience are going to be confused by a room that serves thin-crust pies and calzones. People who arrive expecting excellent pizza in a pleasant room will get exactly that.
Order the way the room is built
The pies are thin, hand-stretched and built to order rather than assembled from a list of named combinations, and the calzone is the item regulars order alongside rather than instead. For two people, one pie and a shared calzone is the standard shape of the meal and it is more food than it sounds.

That is a quieter, more residential and considerably more local part of the island than the Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road corridors, and the character of the room reflects it — this reads as a neighbourhood restaurant rather than a destination one.
It is also a practical advantage. Parking in Sunset Harbour is genuinely easier than almost anywhere else on the beach, there is a garage nearby, and the walk from most of the mid-beach hotels is manageable. If you are already on the beach you do not need a car for this.
Timing the dinner wait if you must
If lunch does not work for you and you are committed to dinner, the wait is shortest at the four o'clock open Monday through Thursday and immediately at noon at the weekend. The hour that people underestimate is the late one — around ten or half past, a meaningful number of tables turn over and the pressure drops noticeably before the midnight close.
Put your name down and then go somewhere. Sunset Harbour has enough within three blocks that an hour is not a hardship, and the alternative — standing on Bay Road watching the door — is a much worse way to spend the first part of an evening.
Miami versus Brooklyn
People who know the Brooklyn room sometimes arrive here expecting a replica and find something a little different: a larger, brighter, more comfortable space in a warmer city, with a booking system attached. Whether that is better depends entirely on whether the queue was part of what you valued.
On the pizza itself the comparison is close enough that arguing about it is a hobby rather than a conclusion. What is not close is the accessibility. If your goal is simply to eat this pizza without spending an afternoon on it, Miami is straightforwardly the easier one, and a weekend lunch booking makes it easier still.
