This route is built as a practical neighborhood guide, not a heroic sightseeing loop. It gives the day one museum anchor, one arts-centre pause, and one Southbank option that can be shortened quickly if the heat starts winning.
Start with a large indoor anchor
The British Museum works as the first stop because the Great Court gives the group a clear public meeting point and an indoor start. Check current opening details before leaving, and do not assume every gallery, cloakroom, or cafe arrangement is unchanged during a busy heat period.
The first stop should also decide the pace. If anyone is already tired, the route should become a single museum visit plus a short food stop. A heat-wave route is successful when it stays comfortable, not when it covers the most ground.
