That last detail is the unusual one. A hotel where the rooms come with access to a working studio attracts a specific kind of guest, and the bar downstairs fills with the result — the crowd skews toward musicians, producers and the people who orbit them.

The seven o'clock open
The bar does not open until 7pm, seven days a week, and closes at 2am. There is no afternoon and no daytime service — this is an evening-only building as far as the public is concerned.
Seven is also the best time to arrive if you want to sit down and talk. The room is dim and amber-lit, the bar programme runs to craft cocktails and natural wines, and for the first hour or so it functions as a neighbourhood bar rather than a venue.
By the time a show starts, the character has changed. If your plan is conversation, take the early window; if it is music, the show time on the listing is what matters.
A hundred and seventy-five people
That capacity puts this among the smallest rooms in Los Angeles where you might reasonably see a name act. Santa Monica Boulevard through East Hollywood is not a strolling street, but the area has more going on than its reputation suggests and there is free private parking at the property, which in this part of the city is a genuine advantage.
The Metro B Line serves the neighbourhood, which matters for a bar that closes at 2am. Vermont/Santa Monica is the nearest station and the walk is short.
There are places to eat within a few minutes in most directions, which is necessary given the 7pm open — this is not a venue you can eat at first.
Why studio-adjacent venues book differently
A venue attached to a working recording studio has a different relationship with artists than a standard club does, and it shows up in the calendar.
Standard venues book through agents, months ahead, around touring routes. A room where musicians are already in the building for other reasons can add a show with days or hours of notice, which is why unannounced sets happen here and rarely happen elsewhere.
It also changes who is in the audience. A crowd that skews toward working musicians and producers listens differently — quieter during sets, more attentive to what the band is actually doing, and considerably less interested in talking over a quiet passage.
The practical advice that follows: follow the venue's own channels rather than ticketing sites. Short-notice bookings appear on a venue's social feed long before they appear anywhere aggregated, and sometimes never appear anywhere else at all.
