Smalls Is the Walk-In, Until It Isn't

It did not survive the pandemic. The owner, Scott Ellard, put it plainly at the time: it was a small place and the impact had been very big. If a guide still lists it as a current option, that guide predates the closure and everything else in it should be treated as unverified.
How to Choose on the Night
Work from what you have, not from a list of names. If you have booked ahead and it is a weekend, the Vanguard is the room — it is the only one here that rewards planning with something you cannot get on impulse. If it is a weeknight and you have decided an hour ago, Smalls is the walk-in and the risk is low. If it is late and you have already eaten, the jam session is a fixed $25 and a different kind of evening entirely.
Two habits help. Check the set times rather than the opening time — these rooms run in discrete sets, so arriving between them means waiting regardless of how empty the place looks.
