Bacetti adds a 20% gratuity to every check, sharing it between the servers and kitchen staff. That is not a suggested tip but part of the restaurant's pricing, so the bill arrives with one decision already made. The rest of dinner is more traditional: Roman pastas, focaccia ebraica, an Italian-focused wine list and a lofty room inside a 1920s bow-truss building. One point needs clearing up before anyone orders: the August 2026 sample menu does not list spaghetti al limone. The stronger reason to come is the combination of Roman classics and California produce, which becomes clearer once the food and the bill are considered together.
The first practical snag is the mismatch between the promised spaghetti al limone and the dishes actually listed on the August 2026 menu. Ask Karpo will tell you what to order instead, how to book the right table and when to arrive tonight.
The bill is part of the meal
Bacetti's 20% gratuity is shared by the servers and kitchen staff, and it is included in the check rather than left for a conventional tip. That makes the arithmetic straightforward, but it also changes how to read the prices. A $24 plate of tonnarelli cacio e pepe is not the final figure, and neither is the $15 focaccia ebraica. Bring a card or digital payment method: the restaurant is cashless.
The sharing policy matters as well. The menu says dishes are served family-style and intended for sharing, so a table should think in terms of a small spread rather than one main course per person. The focaccia ebraica is especially useful as an opening order, with Taggiasca olives, currants, rosemary and sea salt on the August 2026 sample menu. The restaurant also identifies it as a signature item and serves it with honey butter when available.

Roman food, with a California perimeter
Bacetti describes its cooking as classic Roman fare alongside Roman-inspired dishes shaped by California produce. On the August 2026 sample menu, that means tonnarelli cacio e pepe at $24, rigatoni carbonara at $27 and spaghetti alla puttanesca at $28. Mafaldine with short-rib ragù sits at $29. These are recognisable Roman reference points, but the list is not trying to behave like a museum display of Roman cooking.
The absence of spaghetti al limone is worth taking seriously if that is the dish carrying the visit. It is not listed on the August 2026 sample menu, so the sensible order is one of the pastas that is actually there, supported by the focaccia and a bottle from the Italian-focused wine list. That list changes often and is separate from the offerings at Bar Bacetti next door, which is a useful distinction when deciding whether the evening is dinner or drinks with pizza.
Chef Joel Stovall led the kitchen when Bacetti opened in 2021, after working at Orsa and Winston. The owners, Jason Goldman and Christian Stayner, had spent about five years working on the Echo Park project before opening. The result is a neighbourhood trattoria with a clear Roman centre, rather than a generic Italian restaurant assembled around familiar pasta names.
The room does more work than the postcode
The dining room occupies a 1920s-era bow-truss building, and its proportions are the first thing likely to register on arrival. Coverage of the space has described it as lofty, airy and church-like. That gives the meal a sense of occasion without requiring a formal dining format; the food still arrives in shared dishes, and the room is built for a table to settle in rather than rush through a single plate.
For a first visit, the best seat is one that lets the table see the room and still reach the centre of the meal comfortably. Bacetti's family-style format rewards spreading plates across the table, so a cramped edge position is less useful than a place with elbow room. There is no need to treat the restaurant and the neighbouring bar as one operation: the separate addresses and separate offerings make the choice at the door matter.
Arrive with a booking, then leave room for the walk-in option
Reservations run through Resy for parties of up to six, while some tables are held for nightly walk-ins. That creates two workable approaches. A reservation is the cleanest choice for a group or a fixed dinner time; arriving at 5:00 p.m., when service begins, gives a walk-in the best chance of making use of the held tables before the evening develops. The restaurant does not state a closing time, so an early start is more useful than planning around a late final sitting.
Keep the party size within six if booking, and do not assume the bar next door solves a full Bacetti reservation. Bar Bacetti is at 1507 Echo Park Avenue and operates as a walk-in aperitivo and pizza bar. Bacetti itself is at 1509 Echo Park Avenue. The two-door arrangement is close enough to confuse an arrival, but the formats are different: one is the trattoria dinner, the other is the separate bar option.
The wine list is the part of the evening most likely to move, since it changes often. If bringing a bottle, Bacetti charges $45 corkage per bottle and allows no more than two bottles per table. Outside desserts cost $7 per guest. Those charges, the automatic gratuity and the cashless policy are easy to account for before sitting down, which leaves the table to concentrate on choosing enough pasta for everyone.
Practical notes
Bacetti is at 1509 Echo Park Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90026, in Echo Park, and serves dinner daily from 5:00 p.m.; a closing time is not listed. For a transit arrival, use 1509 Echo Park Avenue as the destination rather than the neighbouring 1507 address. Book through Resy for parties of up to six, or arrive at 5:00 p.m. for the strongest walk-in chance. The August 2026 sample menu lists focaccia ebraica at $15, cacio e pepe at $24, carbonara at $27, puttanesca at $28 and short-rib ragù at $29. Bacetti is cashless, adds a 20% gratuity, and charges $45 corkage per bottle. The spaghetti al limone named in the title is not on that sample menu.

Ask Karpo first
The hard part at Bacetti is getting the two-address setup and the actual menu straight: dinner is at 1509 Echo Park Avenue, Bar Bacetti is at 1507, and the listed pasta is not spaghetti al limone. Ask Karpo for the right door, the best arrival time and the dishes currently worth ordering, plus what else nearby is worth the walk.
