Glendale Basketball Court: Monday and Thursday Night Drop-In

Pacific Community Center at 501 S. Pacific Ave. in Glendale runs indoor drop-in basketball Monday and Thursday 5 to 8 PM. Adults need a $25 Activity Card.

Pacific Community Center, at 501 S. Pacific Ave. in South Glendale, runs indoor drop-in basketball on Monday and Thursday evenings from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, plus selected Saturday afternoons. Entry is through the city's Activity Card, which costs $25 a year for adults 18 to 59, $10 for seniors 60 and over, and nothing for youth. For a basketball court near me search in Glendale, that card makes this one of the cheapest regular indoor runs you will find, as long as you plan around the dated schedule.

Plan a Glendale Run

The schedule runs by date, not by weekday

Glendale does not post a weekly grid for this gym. It posts a dated list, the Drop-In Basketball Schedule for October through December 2026, updated October 14, 2026, and linked from the center's multi-use court page. Most Mondays and Thursdays run 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Saturdays alternate between a 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM session and a closure, so October 24, November 21 and November 28 are open, while October 17, October 31, November 7 and November 14 are marked closed.

The list also shows the holiday gaps. Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 26, is closed, and so are December 19, 21, 24 and 31. The note at the bottom says staff will give as much notice as possible of any extra cancellations and asks players to sign up for the center's email list at the front desk. Do that on your first visit, because the email list is how a cancelled Monday reaches you before you drive over.

Two gyms, one partition wall

The center has two indoor gymnasiums. On the city's description, the basketball floor can be set up as two side-by-side courts separated by a partition wall, or opened into one main court. The same rooms also host indoor volleyball, eight shared badminton and pickleball courts, and up to eight table tennis tables with dividers, which is why basketball gets fixed evening windows instead of the whole day.

When both courts are set for basketball, a three-hour session can carry two full-court games at once, and the wait between games stays short. That makes the Monday and Thursday sessions friendlier to newcomers than a single-court gym. Outside, the park adds a lit outdoor multi-use court with one full basketball court and three pickleball courts, which is useful on the Saturdays the gym is closed.

How the Activity Card works

The Activity Card is an annual pass rather than a per-visit fee. Adults 18 to 59 pay $25 a year, seniors 60 and over pay $10, and youth cards are free. The city's page lists basketball as one of the drop-in activities the card covers, along with volleyball, pickleball, soccer and youth dodgeball. At $25 a year, an adult who plays every Monday is paying well under a dollar a session.

The card also opens the Recreation Room, which has two 8-foot billiards tables, a table tennis table and a foosball table, and is not available for private rentals. Buy the card at the front desk during center hours, which are 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday the building is open for rentals only, so no drop-in that day.

A 2003 building in South Glendale

Pacific Community Center opened to the public on September 3, 2003, according to the city. The center sits in South Glendale, and its rooms can take gatherings from eight to 700 people. Four rentable meeting rooms carry tree names, Sycamore, Oak and Red Bud, plus an Arts and Science Room, and they host classes and family events through the week.

That mix shapes the evening. The city describes the center's programs as contract classes, neighborhood special events and drop-in activities for youth and families, so a Monday at 5:00 PM can mean basketball in the gym while a class meets down the hall. If you are new to the run, ask who has next and call your five early rather than waiting silently by the wall.

Around the park

The park outside has two playgrounds, one covered for ages 2 to 5 and one partly covered for ages 6 to 12, two reservable picnic pavilions with barbecues, a splash pad, outdoor exercise equipment and a lit little league baseball field. In October 2026 the splash pad runs only on weekends, 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, so a family Saturday can pair it with the afternoon basketball session.

The Pacific Park Library branch sits next to the center, which helps on nights when one parent plays and the kids would rather read. For dinner after an 8:00 PM finish, Brand Boulevard and the Americana at Brand are a short drive east, with far more choice than the blocks right around the park. The park itself stays open until 10:00 PM daily, so there is time to stretch on the lawn before you leave.

Honest notes before you go

Do not plan a Saturday around this gym without reading the dated list first: October 31, November 7 and November 14 are all closed, three Saturdays in a row. If you show up to a closed Saturday, the lit outdoor court is your plan B, and it shares space with three pickleball courts, so expect to share. Sunday is never a basketball day here, because the building is rentals only.

Practical notes

Where: Pacific Community Center and Park, 501 S. Pacific Ave., Glendale, CA 91204. Phone: (818) 548-4098. Drop-in basketball: most Mondays and Thursdays 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, selected Saturdays 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM, per the city's October to December 2026 list. Activity Card: youth free, adults $25 a year, seniors $10 a year. Courts: two indoor gyms plus one lit outdoor court.

Bring your own ball and indoor shoes, and pick up the Activity Card at the front desk before your first game. Join the email list there too, since cancellations go out by email. The park is open 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily, but the gym belongs to classes, volleyball, pickleball and table tennis outside the posted basketball windows, so a pickup game will not start just because the doors are open.
