A venue at 350 Mission with a weekday-only model is making a rational decision about where its customers are. It just means the city's flagship room is unavailable on the two days most amateur golfers are free.
The membership pricing tells the same story. Studio Golf's founding tier has been quoted around $4,950 and its signature tier around $1,199, which are numbers aimed at companies and serious regulars rather than at somebody looking for something to do on a rainy Saturday. Hourly play in the wider Bay Area market sits closer to fifty dollars an hour, with a bay typically taking up to about six people.
Where the weekend actually happens
Once you accept that downtown is a weekday product, the map redraws itself outward. Urban Fairway in South San Francisco is a dedicated simulator facility rather than a bar with bays attached, which means weekend hours and a different atmosphere — closer to a practice range than a night out. The wider Bay Area has a spread of similar facilities in the kind of light-industrial space that downtown San Francisco does not have and cannot afford.
Mobile simulator rental is the other route, and it is more established here than in most American cities — Dryvebox and similar operators will bring a trailer-mounted TrackMan bay to a location, which turns a birthday or a company offsite into something you do not have to drive to at all. It is not cheap, but for a group of eight it competes with four hours of bay time plus everyone's transport.
Parking is the question you should ask second
At 350 Mission you should not drive. The building sits within a short walk of Montgomery and Embarcadero, and the surrounding garages are priced for weekday commuters, which is to say badly. This is the rare San Francisco activity where transit is unambiguously the right call, and where the venue's weekday hours actually align with the best transit service of the week.
The South San Francisco and peninsula facilities are the reverse — surface parking, easy access from the freeway, and effectively unreachable without a car. Which of those two profiles suits you is a better way to choose than comparing launch monitors, because the hardware at this end of the market is broadly equivalent.
What to book, and for how long
Two hours for a group of four or more. One hour is a practice block, not a round, and a foursome will not finish eighteen holes inside it. Because bays here are priced per bay rather than per person, a group of six at fifty dollars an hour is a genuinely cheap evening — under nine dollars each — while the same booking solo is expensive for what it is.
If the plan involves drinking, book the bar-attached room and go on a weekday. If the plan involves actually working on your swing, book the standalone facility, go at the weekend, and enjoy the fact that nobody is trying to sell you a cocktail while you are measuring spin rate.

The practical consequence is that same-day booking works far more often here than the market's reputation suggests, and that the one time it does not work is precisely when you most want it to. If a storm is forecast for Saturday, book on Wednesday. If the forecast is clear, walk in and expect to get a bay, particularly before mid-afternoon.
