Wynwood at 1am is a strange search problem. The bars are full, the streets are busy, and “food near me” returns a dozen places that closed two hours ago. Coyo Taco is the address that reliably has not, and it has a second reason to know about it that does not appear on any listing.
Groups fall apart when half of them want food and half want another drink. This is the one room in Wynwood that does not force the choice.
The clock
Coyo Taco is at 2300 NW 2nd Avenue, in the thick of Wynwood. Monday through Wednesday it runs 11am to 2am. Thursday through Sunday it runs 11am to 3am. That is a fifteen- and sixteen-hour day respectively, and it means the taqueria outlasts most of the surrounding kitchens by a wide margin.

The front of house is a counter operation: you queue, you order at the till, you take a number. At 1am on a Saturday that queue is long and it moves — this is a room built for volume, and the plancha behind the glass does not slow down.
The bar behind the taqueria
Past the taqueria, through the back, there is a separate cocktail bar. It is not a secret in the sense that nobody knows about it — Wynwood regulars all do — but it is genuinely not visible from the counter, and staff will point you if you ask. It runs on house-brand tequila margaritas and craft cocktails, and it is a different room in temperature and volume from the taco queue out front.
This is the structural thing worth knowing. A group of six at 12.30am usually splits: two want to eat, two want to keep drinking, two want to sit down. Coyo covers all three inside one address. You order tacos at the counter, take them through, and the people who wanted a cocktail are already there. Very few places in the neighbourhood do that after midnight.
What to order at that hour
The menu is taco-forward with burritos, quesadillas and salads around it, and it caters properly to vegans and vegetarians rather than offering one apologetic option. At 1am the honest advice is to order more tacos than feels sensible and fewer burritos than feels sensible — the tacos are the thing the kitchen is optimised for, and a burrito at that hour is a commitment.
Salsas are the part people skip. Ask for the range rather than defaulting to whatever is on the tray; the heat spread is wide and the difference between the mild and the hot is not marginal.
Wynwood logistics after midnight
NW 2nd Avenue is the spine and almost everything worth walking to is on it or one block off. Coyo sits far enough along that you can reach it from most of the bar cluster on foot in under ten minutes.
Parking is the recurring mistake. Wynwood surface lots on a Friday or Saturday night charge accordingly and fill early, and street parking near 2nd Avenue is effectively fictional after 9pm. Rideshare in, rideshare out — the fare will beat the lot and you will not be moving a car at 3am.
One more thing that matters for groups: the counter format means you are not holding a table hostage. If half your party arrives forty minutes after the other half, nobody loses a booking, because there was never a booking.
The vegetarian and vegan side, properly
A lot of late-night taquerias treat vegetarians as an afterthought and hand over a cheese quesadilla. This menu does not, and that matters at 1am when a group has one person who does not eat meat and no appetite for a negotiation.
There are dedicated vegan and vegetarian fillings across the taco, burrito and quesadilla formats rather than a single token option, and they are made on the same plancha with the same tortillas. Practically, that means a mixed group can order once, at one counter, without anyone eating a compromise — which is the whole reason a room like this holds a group together past midnight.
One caveat worth knowing: at peak the counter is loud and the queue is moving, so state dietary requirements clearly and early rather than mid-order. The staff will accommodate them; they will not guess.
