Search coffee near me in Los Angeles and the map answers a question nobody asked. It shows you what is close. In a city where a two-mile hop can cost twenty-five minutes, the question that actually matters is which rooms are worth the drive, and — more usefully — what time you have to arrive before the good part of the menu shuts down. Because that is the thing about LA coffee that nobody puts on the map pin: several of the best rooms in the city keep their kitchen open for three fewer hours than their espresso machine, and if you show up at four in the afternoon expecting lunch you get a cortado and an apology.
Hours here shift by location, not by brand, and the kitchen almost never matches the counter. Ask Karpo which of these rooms is still serving food at the hour you can actually get there, and what the drive looks like right now.
The Kitchen Clock Is the Real Schedule
Go Get Em Tiger runs eight cafés across Los Angeles, and the single most useful thing to know about the group is a scheduling quirk that is published but almost never noticed: the kitchens close at 3pm. Every one of them. At Larchmont Village, 230 North Larchmont Boulevard, the café itself runs 6:30am to 6pm on weekdays and 7am to 6pm at the weekend — but the kitchen serves 7am to 3pm both. That is a three-hour gap at the end of the day where the room is open, busy and pleasant, and there is nothing to eat.
This matters more than it sounds, because Larchmont is the location people default to when they want a long working afternoon with a plate of something at the end of it. The plan works until 3pm and then quietly stops working. If food is part of the reason you are going, treat 2:30pm as the last honest arrival time, not 5.
Where to Go If You Are Up Before the City Is
The earliest door in the group is not in Hollywood or on the Eastside. It is Culver City: 10000 Washington Boulevard, Suite 103, open 6am on weekdays with the kitchen running from 6am too. That is a full half-hour ahead of Larchmont and two hours ahead of the downtown rooms, which do not open until 8am. For anyone whose day starts on a set call sheet, an early flight out of LAX or a westside commute that only works before traffic sets, this is the practical answer, and it is the one location where you can eat at six in the morning.
At the weekend Culver City shifts to 7am to 4pm with a 7am to 3pm kitchen, so the early-bird advantage is a weekday thing. Saturday morning, the earliest opening in the group flattens out and everyone starts at seven.

The Counters That Are Not Cafés
Two of the eight are worth understanding as counters rather than rooms, because turning up expecting to settle in is a mistake. Grand Central Market, 317 South Broadway, runs 8am to 5pm daily inside a food hall with shared seating and no quiet corner. Ivy Station at 8900 Venice Boulevard, Suite 105, runs 8am to 3pm daily and is the shortest day of the eight — it is closed by mid-afternoon, and it sits inside a mixed-use development rather than on a street.
The Fountain Avenue café at 6344 Fountain Avenue runs 8am to 4pm daily and Highland Park at 5916 North Figueroa Street runs 7am to 3pm daily. Neither is a long-afternoon room. The ROW café at 777 South Alameda Street, Suite B2-184, is weekdays 8am to 4pm with the kitchen closing at 3pm, and Sundays it stretches to 5pm — the only location that runs later on a Sunday than on a Tuesday. If you build weekend plans around downtown, that is the one to remember.
Cognoscenti and the Multi-Roaster Argument
A few blocks west of the Culver City café, Cognoscenti Coffee sits at 6114 Washington Boulevard in the Culver City Arts District and runs Monday to Saturday 7am to 4pm, Sunday 8am to 4pm. The pitch is different from a single-roaster room: Cognoscenti is a multi-roaster, which means the beans on the bench rotate through other people's roasts rather than defending a house style.
The practical value of that is comparison. If you have spent a year buying one roaster's espresso and have no idea whether you actually like it or have just got used to it, a multi-roaster counter is the cheapest possible calibration exercise. Ask what is on filter today and what it is not — the answer tells you what the room rates this week, which is more useful than any tasting note printed on a bag.
Echo Park, and the Roaster That Went Physical
Canyon Coffee spent years as a bag-and-subscription brand before opening its first bricks-and-mortar café at 1559 Echo Park Avenue. It runs 7am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 7am to 6pm Friday through Sunday, which is the inverse of most LA coffee scheduling — the weekend is the longer day here, not the shorter one. The company describes itself as rooted in two neighbourhoods, Echo Park in Los Angeles and Prospect Heights in Brooklyn, and the Echo Park room is the LA half of that.
The location is the point. Echo Park Avenue climbs north away from Sunset into a residential stretch, so this is a walk-up neighbourhood café rather than a boulevard stop. Park once, walk up, and the coffee is the reason you are on that street rather than something you grabbed on the way to somewhere else.
The One That Stays Open Late
If your coffee plan is an evening plan, the list collapses to almost nothing. Intelligentsia's Venice coffeebar at 1331 Abbot Kinney Boulevard runs 6am to 7pm, Monday through Sunday — an hour later than the longest-running rooms on the eastside and three to four hours later than the counters. It also carries a Sweetgreen outpost on the same site and has an outdoor patio, which makes it the rare LA coffee room that functions as a 5pm meeting spot rather than a morning one.
Set against everything else here, that closing time is the whole argument. Between 5pm and 7pm, most of this city's serious coffee is already switched off. Knowing the one address that is not is worth more than another list of tasting notes.

Ask Karpo first
Kitchen hours, holiday closures and which counter is running food today all move faster than any guide can keep up with. Ask Karpo which Los Angeles coffee room is still serving at the hour you are free, what the current opening times are, and a sensible route between the Culver City and Echo Park rooms before you set off.
