The room absorbs the day's escape velocity at exactly the right moment. You can sit at the bar, you can play pool badly, you can order from the window when the kitchen is open. None of this requires a reservation. None of this requires planning. The bar simply works.

The L line gets you there from any East Village failed-reservation in under 25 minutes. Walk in, eat, dance, leave when you decide. The patio holds the night past most other rooms, which makes Nowadays the anchor of the entire walk-in heat map on the eastern half of the city.

Daytime walk-in is the primary use; the evening overlap is the secret. After a Tuesday-failed-Resy at 7 pm, Kalimera is the regroup room. Coffee or a small plate. The room hands the night back to you with options. The shop, by the way, is not a gimmick. People actually buy the sweaters.
