Set on Mission Bay, the world’s oldest all-women’s rowing club began when four friends launched a crew of their own.
Description

In 1892, Zulette Lamb and sisters Lena, Agnes, and Caroline Polhamus formed the name ZLAC from their first initials after spending hours rowing together on the bay. Establishing an athletic club exclusively for women was a novel idea at the time. The organization continues to center on that original mission: promoting rowing and other athletic activities, organizing social events for its members, and maintaining a dedicated clubhouse and grounds to house them.
