Zipline Off a Casino Roof, Land Beside a Tribal Museum

Two landmarks of the Mashantucket Pequot reservation, the casino tower and the tribe's museum, with a steel cable running between them.

Zip off a casino roof to the tribal museum.

Foxwoods sits on the Mashantucket Pequot reservation in southeastern Connecticut, where the tallest things for miles are the resort's own towers and the glass museum the tribe opened out past the trees in 1998. From the ground the two look like separate errands. A steel cable connects them, and the crossing runs a minute and a half to a little over two, depending on the wind and what you weigh.

The launch deck is on the roof of the Fox Tower, thirty-three stories up. You land on the ground beside the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center. The flying is the short part. The climb, the harness and the trip back fill out the rest of the hour.

Check in at the ticket counter inside the Fox Tower Parking Rotunda. The meeting point is the front desk between the parking garage and the casino floor. Anyone under eighteen needs an adult to complete their waiver.

The Drop Off the Fox Tower Roof

The deck sits 350 feet above the ground, on top of a thirty-three story hotel. You step off, and the cable carries you out over the canopy toward the museum's observation tower in the distance.

Two speed figures circulate, and they measure different things: close to 60 mph is the top of the drop, 45 is the average once the whole run is counted. The distance is a plainer disagreement. The press release that opened the ride in March 2018 put its four parallel cables at over 3,750 feet, which lands just short of the three-quarters of a mile the booking listing gives. The resort rounds the same run up to a mile. Neither number is what the ride feels like. At 350 feet nothing is close enough to measure yourself against, so the speed reads as gliding rather than rushing. Riders who came for a drop say so with disappointment; riders who came for the view say the same thing with relief.

Foxwoods calls this the only zipline in America that launches from a 33-story hotel tower. That line is the operator's own, and no independent source confirms it. The advertised view reaching to Long Island Sound carries the same caution: the operator says the water shows on clear days and goes into haze the rest of the time. Forest is what you can count on. Across 116 reviews the ride holds a 4.6.

What You Land Next To

The landing zone is the ground beside the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center, a glass and steel complex the tribe opened in 1998 and still owns and runs. A shuttle takes riders back to the casino tower, and children need an adult with them on it.

The museum is a separate operation keeping its own hours. Its best known room is a walk-through re-creation of a coastal Pequot village as it stood around 1550, populated with fifty-one life-size figures building wigwams, sharpening arrows and weaving mats.

There is also a 185-foot observation tower looking back over the reservation, the casino and the rest of southeastern Connecticut. It is the same stretch of country you just crossed on the cable, seen from a standstill.

Who Can Ride

The limits are firm, and they get checked at the counter before anything else. Riders have to weigh between 65 and 300 pounds and stand no taller than six foot seven. Nobody flies intoxicated.

There are about fifty steps to climb and descend on the route, and no wheelchair access. The operator asks for at least a moderate level of fitness, and advises against the ride for pregnant travelers and for anyone with a spinal injury.

Children ride if they make the weight range and have an adult along. For anyone under eighteen, an adult has to complete the waiver.

Season, Hours and Weather

This is a short season, and for most of it a short week. The operator runs mid-May through the last weekend of October, and the last day of the 2026 season is October 31. Seven days a week holds only from mid-June through the end of August; either side of that it is Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Weekdays open at 1 PM, weekends at noon, and everything closes at 6 PM. The closing weeks run over fall color, which is the one thing the thinner shoulder-season week has going for it.

Weather does the rest of the deciding, and the operator can call off a run for it. On your own side, cancelling at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure returns the full amount. Inside that window nothing comes back.

Souvenir photos are sold separately and sit outside the ticket price. Dress for the temperature at speed. It runs colder up there than it does in the parking lot.

The flight itself runs a minute and a half to a little over two. The rest of the hour is the climb, the harness check and the ride back. If the afternoon is still open when you land, the museum you just flew over is standing right there at the end of the cable.
