Youth Basketball Starts Before the City Wakes
A youth basketball clinic takes over Pier 2 in Brooklyn Bridge Park this Saturday, drilling fundamentals outdoors by the harbor. Small and early, it is built for young players who want real coaching over a game to watch.

🏀 What the Clinic Builds
The clinic is built around fundamentals. Small age-grouped sessions drill ball handling, footwork, and shooting form. It stays free to join, capped at 45 players per age group, which keeps the reps frequent and the coaching close. This week it all runs outdoors on the Pier 2 courts, trading the usual indoor gym for open air with the harbor and the bridge in view. The morning wraps early enough to leave the rest of Saturday open.
🌊 How the Morning Runs
Players check in by age group and warm up together. From there the session breaks into stations for dribbling lines, passing drills, and shooting reps under a coach's eye. The pace stays practical, with short water breaks and quick huddles as the sun climbs over the harbor. Kids rotate drill to drill, spending the hour on their feet instead of the bench. Parents watch from the pier edge, close enough to catch the footwork but clear of the run of play.
📝 Registration and Who It Fits
The session starts at 5:00 AM EDT at Pier 2 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, down on the Brooklyn waterfront. Plan the trip around that pre-sunrise tip, register in advance, and bring a signed fitness waiver, walk-ups are taken only as space allows. The dawn start fits families who can handle an early alarm and a young player ready to put in the work. Pack water, court shoes, and the signed paperwork for a smooth check-in.
