A Private Van Tour from the Getty Center to Griffith Observatory
Meet your guide at the Original Farmers Market for a crosstown day linking the Getty galleries and Griffith Observatory.
The Getty Center and Griffith Observatory sit on opposite sides of Los Angeles. One is up in the hills off North Sepulveda Boulevard. The other sits on Mount Hollywood, inside Griffith Park. Putting both into a single day is a traffic problem before it is a sightseeing one.
This tour answers that with one vehicle and a fixed six-hour shape. A guide collects the group at the Original Farmers Market, drives the full route, and keeps the clock. Nobody in the party has to navigate.

The vehicle is the product here. ExperienceFirst runs this departure privately in a Sprinter van seating up to thirteen, and the only people aboard are the ones on your booking. One price covers the whole van, which drops the figure per person as the group grows. A pair and a group of six pay close to the same total.
ExperienceFirst has been running guided city walks since 2009, when a Deutsche Bank trader started the company in New York with a Wall Street route.
Confirmation is immediate. Booking closes forty-eight hours before the start time.
Private Getty Center to Griffith Observatory Guided TourSix hours by private van with a guide, a walk-through of the Getty collection, and two hours at Griffith Observatory.www.viator.comAt the Getty, the Guide Goes First

The two source pages give different Getty timings. Viator lists a one-hour stop, while ExperienceFirst describes thirty minutes of guided time plus one hour to explore on your own. Confirm the current allocation when booking. The guide picks a path through the collection and stops at works including van Gogh, Monet and Cezanne, alongside holdings that reach from the Middle Ages to the present day. When the guided portion ends, the rest of the stop is yours.
Plenty of people spend it outdoors. The gardens and the terraces carry the city views, and they are a short walk from the galleries.
The Observatory Stop Is the Longest on the Itinerary

Two hours, against one for the Getty. The guided part is a short opening walk — ExperienceFirst puts it at fifteen minutes — and the rest of the block is yours. ExperienceFirst says the route was designed by former observatory employees and an astronomical artist, though it does not name them. What the guide covers is the architecture, the instruments, and the films shot here, La La Land among them.
The itinerary sets aside a further hour for Griffith Park around it.
The Stretch Between Is Narrated From the Van
Between the two big stops the van runs through Beverly Hills, along the Sunset Strip and into Hollywood, with the guide narrating as it goes. These are pass-by sights, seen from your seat. The Hollywood Sign gets pointed out on the approach to Griffith Park.
Who the Day Suits
Departures run Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with start times between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. ExperienceFirst notes that times can move with driver and vehicle availability, and that the team reaches out quickly when that happens.
The day is rated suitable for all fitness levels. The vehicle, the surfaces and the stops are all wheelchair accessible, and a wheelchair-accessible vehicle can be requested at booking. Strollers are fine, infants ride on an adult's lap, and service animals are allowed. Narration is in English only.
Lunch sits outside the price. Bring your own or buy something at the Getty or at the Griffith Observatory cafe.
📍 The van boards in front of the TASCHEN bookstore at 6333 West 3rd Street, at the Original Farmers Market. Your guide will be in ExperienceFirst gear. Plan to arrive fifteen minutes early so the departure is not held.
- Mobile or paper ticket, one per booking
- All sales are final, with no refund for cancellations
The van returns to the same corner of the market at the end of the day, which leaves more than a hundred grocers and stalls between you and dinner.
