Your Own Glassblower for an Hour at Third Degree Glass

A private glassblowing show in the hot shop at Third Degree Glass, with time after to walk the gallery and exhibition.

Third Degree Glass runs a working hot shop on Delmar Boulevard, and this booking gives your group one of its glass artists for an hour. The artist gathers molten glass, then heats, turns and shapes it into a finished piece while you watch from the front row. Questions and photos are welcome the whole time.

The studio opened in 2002 inside a former car dealership and service station, and it now anchors the Delmar Maker District, north of Forest Park between the Delmar Loop and the Central West End.

The price is set per booking, not per person. One booking covers up to fifteen travelers for USD 350, so two people pay what fifteen pay. Book at least five days ahead. The listing stops taking bookings two days before a start, while the studio's own FAQ asks for five days of notice on private demos, and the earlier date meets both.

What Happens at the Bench

The show happens in the hot shop, one of three working studios in the building, alongside the kiln and flame studios, a retail glass gallery and exhibition space. The artist explains the heat, the tools and each move while taking the glass from a glowing gather to a finished form. On the studio's own demo page, the piece made is either a fluted bowl or a fluted vase. It can be bought afterward, and that page lists it at USD 225.

Gallery visitors can sometimes catch artists at work without a booking, but that depends on who is in the studio that day. This booking puts an artist at the bench for your group at the hour you pick.

Shop the Gallery Afterward

Access to the studio during your slot is included, and the gallery and rotating exhibitions are in the same building. The gallery is open Monday to Saturday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sunday, noon to 4:00 PM, so even a 3:00 PM start leaves time to browse.

Who Can Come

The listing has a single traveler band from infants up, and infants sit on an adult's lap. The studio's FAQ calls its glassblowing demonstrations family-friendly.

The listing marks the experience as wheelchair accessible on all surfaces and fine for strollers, but the studio's own pages say nothing about access. Anyone with a specific need should raise it with the studio before the day. Service animals are allowed.

Times, Extras and Refunds

Starts run on the hour from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Thursday only, and confirmation is instant. Cancel at least 24 hours before your start for a full refund; inside 24 hours nothing comes back. Hotel pickup, transport to the studio, food, drinks and gratuities are not included.
