Your Line Dance Debut, Upstairs in a Lower Broadway Honky-Tonk
A one-hour beginner line dance class upstairs in a working Broadway bar, with the venue chosen for you and texted on class day.
Stompin' Grounds teaches country line dancing inside working honky-tonks on Lower Broadway, in the rooms upstairs from the bars. The class runs an hour and is pitched at people who have never line danced.
The room votes on the two dances it learns. Instructors open with a beginner dance to warm everyone up, then add a slightly harder second one. The operator names classics such as Boot Scootin' Boogie and Footloose alongside newer dances like Tipsy and Miles on It.

The booking below is the public class. Tickets are sold per person from age four, every booking needs an adult, and bottled water and the class video are included. Drinks from the bar, the instructor's tip and parking are extra.

Bootleggers Inn at 207 Broadway is the home room, a second-floor space above what the operator calls Nashville's only moonshine bar. When a class outgrows it, the overflow goes to AJ's Good Time Bar at 421 Broadway or Nudie's Honky Tonk at 409 Broadway, a short walk along the same street and also upstairs.
The venue is assigned for you and sent by text on the day of class. The texts come from 615-651-2888, and anyone still without one close to class time can call or text that number. Guests cannot stay at whichever bar they walked into, as each room is planned for a set number of dancers. Check in with the instructor before buying a drink.
How the Hour Runs, and Where to Stand

Each dance is broken into short pieces, walked through slowly, then danced to music, with water breaks in between. Travelers keep naming the patience of the instructors and the two dances they left with.
In packed 2025 classes, some travelers could follow the instructor only on a TV screen. One, at the back of the narrow room at Bootleggers, advised staying within the front few rows. The class space opens 30 minutes before the start, and the operator recommends checking in 15 minutes early, which leaves time to claim a spot near the front.
Expect to sweat. The operator calls the hour a cardio workout with low-impact moves and advises against sweaters. Western boots with leather soles help on the turns, any closed-toe shoe works, and open-toed shoes are discouraged.
The Free Class Video, and Where It Lands
An iPhone films the class, and the operator emails a Google Drive link with both dances and the instructor's end-of-class selfie, on average one to two weeks later. The instructor asks for an email address at check-in; hand one over before leaving if nobody asks.
The video is a free extra, and a handful of travelers since early 2025 say theirs never arrived. The operator says these emails often land in spam, sent from media@stompingrounds.us, and asks guests to write after two weeks with the class date, time and venue. The listing states there are no refunds for technical problems with the video. Anyone who would rather stay off camera can tell the instructor before class starts.
Stairs, Children and the Bar Below
All three rooms are upstairs. Bootleggers Inn has one flight of stairs and no elevator; AJ's and Nudie's both have elevators. The venue is assigned, and the operator asks anyone who needs an elevator to get in touch right away. The listing marks the class suitable for all fitness levels; the operator's own wording is that guests need to be able to climb stairs and will be dancing for a full hour.
The operator sets no age limit and uses clean music, but the class sits inside a working bar and drinks are allowed in the room. Minors need an adult with valid ID to enter. For a calmer crowd with children, it points families to weekday afternoon classes or the earlier Friday and Saturday slots. Anyone not dancing can watch from a bar stool or the back of the room.
Beer and mixed drinks are sold at the ground-floor bar before, during and after class, and outside alcohol is not allowed, sealed or not. The tip is optional and can go on a card, through an app or in cash.
📍 Bootleggers Inn is at 207 Broadway, and the overflow bars are a short walk along the same street. Downtown parking is all paid lots and garages and is not included; the operator points drivers to cheaper lots across the river by the stadium. It also advises leaving at least several hours between landing in Nashville and class, and better still a different day.
Booked through this listing, the class can be cancelled for a full refund up to 24 hours before it starts. The operator's own site sells the same class with no refunds.
After that, the hour is yours: two dances learned, and Broadway's honky-tonks right outside to try them in.
