Your Dress Takes Flight on Oahu's Volcanic Shore

A private morning shoot on Oahu's volcanic east shore in a long-train gown, with every raw image handed over afterward.

Stacey Williams Photography runs this as a private session, and the listing is written in the photographer's own voice. The morning starts at 6:00 AM in the Costco parking lot in Hawaii Kai, then a short drive east to a stretch of volcanic rock above the water, where the listing has you watch the sunrise before changing into the gown.

The gown is the whole idea: a high-fashion dress with a very long train, in a color you choose before the day. Then ninety minutes of shooting, with the train lifting off the rock whenever the wind takes it.

Pricing is per person and depends on group size: USD 900 for one traveler, or USD 810 each when two or three share a booking. One booking takes up to three people, ages 16 to 70.

The price covers the 90-minute shoot, the dress rental with its shipping and cleaning, and every raw image, from which you pick six for editing. Haku lei flower crowns cost extra.

The Color Is Chosen Before You Arrive

Color is settled before the shoot. The operator's chart runs from red, orange and magenta through teal, Tiffany blue, yellow, white and black, with regular sizes fitting 0 to 16 and plus sizes fitting 18 and up. Metallic, shimmer and sequin dresses carry an upcharge on that chart, and several of them come in regular sizes only.

Wear something that slips off easily. The operator suggests a sundress, or a tank top and shorts, because you change into the gown on location. Once you are in it, the photographer helps style the top of the dress in different ways for different looks.

A Second Pair of Hands for the Train

The listing promises the photographer guides you personally and helps style the dress. Several travelers describe a second person as well: a dress assistant who throws and holds the train, booked as a paid add-on, often alongside drone footage. Neither appears in the listing's inclusions.

Travelers who took the assistant call it worth it on a windy morning, and wind comes up again and again in their accounts of this coast. One wished she had worn her hair half up with a tie at hand. Another found the wave mist turned her hairspray stiff.

The Footing Is Volcanic Rock

The listing ticks suitable for all physical fitness levels. The same list says the session is not recommended for travelers with disabilities or problems with walking, because there is some minor hiking. The operator asks for comfortable, safe walking shoes, since some of its locations mean walking on volcanic rock.

Travelers who name the spot mention the Halona Blowhole stretch of coast, with a short hike down to a small beach, and one advises athletic shoes for the descent. Service animals are allowed.

Weather Calls and the Six Edits

The booking calendar lists a single 6:00 AM start for every date. The listing is marked as weather-dependent: if a morning is called off for weather, the booking moves to a new date or is refunded in full. The operator says sessions may be rescheduled in inclement weather. Cancel at least 24 hours ahead for a full refund; inside that window the booking is not refundable.

After the shoot, every raw image comes to you and you pick six for editing. One traveler received the raw images within two weeks and the edits a few days after choosing, about three weeks start to finish.

Meet at 6:00 AM in the Costco parking lot at 333 A Keahole Street in Hawaii Kai. The warehouse itself opens hours later, so the lot is only the handoff point. From there the photographer drives you to the location, or you follow in your own car; it is a short drive.

Bring the slip-off outfit and walking shoes. Then the morning is the gown, the volcanic rock and the Pacific.
