You're in the Photos This Time, on Maui's Mokapu Beach
Somebody in every travelling family ends up behind the camera for the whole trip. This is an hour on a public beach in Wailea with a photographer who takes that job off you, at the end of the day when the light turns. The fee and the gallery are two separate things here, and that is the part worth reading before you book.
Mokapu Beach sits at the north end of the Wailea coast, a short crescent of sand with a grass hill and a parking lot above it. Wailea Photo works this stretch. The booking buys a private hour with one of them at 6:30 in the evening, seven days a week.
You do not need to know how to pose. That is most of what the hour is: somebody telling four people where to put their hands, then catching the second after they stop listening.
The session is private. Whoever you book, the beach hour is yours alone.

Sessions meet at the bottom of the parking lot, on the grass hill above the sand, at 3572 Wailea Alanui Drive. Bookings close four hours before the 6:30 start, and the operator confirms each one by hand, so confirmation takes a little time.
A Maui Beach Photoshoot in WaileaPrivate, sixty minutes, 6:30 PM daily. Posing guidance, outdoor studio lighting, editing and the State of Hawaii beach photo permit are included. USD 49 per adult; the price record lists no charge for the child age band. The digital gallery is quoted separately.www.viator.comFour Balters, and One of Them Meets You

Wailea Photo is a family studio. Its own site names Laurence, Jude, Max and Solomon Balter, and puts the family at more than twenty-five years photographing South Maui.
The studio makes one promise on this point that is unusual enough to be worth repeating in its own words: every session is photographed personally by one of them, never an outside contractor or temp photographer. The same page says the editing is done by hand, with no AI, and that galleries are delivered in under forty-eight hours.
Those are the studio's own claims about itself. What the booking record confirms independently is narrower and still useful: the session is private, it runs in English, and the person who shows up is the person who edits the files.
Six Thirty, Every Day of the Week

There is one start time and it does not move. 6:30 PM, Monday through Sunday, every season the booking calendar covers.
The slot is sold as sixty minutes. The operator's own inclusion list puts forty-five of those on the sand, which leaves the rest for finding the light and walking back up. Behind that sits work you never see: the studio counts three to four hours of editing and colour grading per session.
The listing gives two pieces of advice and both are practical. Book early in the trip, before anyone gets sunburnt. Wear bold colours, because they hold up at sunset, and skip white unless the session is a wedding.
Outdoor studio lighting is included, so the hour does not depend on the sky behaving.
What USD 49 Buys, and What It Does Not
The fee is charged per person, and the booking calendar prices an adult at USD 49 and the child age band at zero.
The gallery is the part people misread. It is not in the fee. The listing says so in capitals and then says it again in plain text: gallery pricing is sent once the booking is confirmed, and the booking can be cancelled free at any point before then. Roughly one hundred to two hundred edited photographs go into that gallery.
So the sequence is: book, get confirmed by hand, receive the gallery quote, then decide. Nobody is asking for the gallery money up front, and nothing locks until you say yes to the number.
The Viator fee covers the photographer's hour. The photographs themselves are quoted after confirmation.
One booking quirk sits in the operator's own notes and saves money if you read it: book only as two people for groups of up to five.
Four Hours Out to Book, a Day Out to Cancel
The mechanics are short.
- Bookings close four hours before the 6:30 start
- Confirmation is manual, so allow time for it
- Full refund if cancelled at least twenty-four hours before the start time
- At least one adult on the booking; the child band runs from age one to seventeen
- Guiding is in English
- Mobile or paper ticket, one per booking
The listing rates the session suitable for all physical fitness levels, and notes public transport options nearby. It is a beach, a parking lot and a grass hill, so nothing about getting to the sand asks much of anyone.
Mokapu Beach is a public beach park at 3572 Wailea Alanui Drive, and the session both starts and finishes at the bottom of the parking lot, on the grass hill above the sand. Park, walk down, and look for somebody with a light stand.
An hour later the sun is off the water and the awkward first ten minutes are long forgotten. You walk back up the hill with nothing in your hands, which is the whole point. For once you are in the pictures.
