York Woods Forest Preserve
4.5 (257)park
One hour after sunrise to one hour after sunset
Century-old oaks canopy paved trails and a historic 1930s picnic shelter in DuPage County's oldest forest preserve.
Description

Across nearly 70 acres of oak woodland, the preserve provides a peaceful setting for outdoor gatherings and wildlife watching. Birders scan the branches for northern orioles, cedar waxwings, warbling vireos, and owls, alongside woodpeckers and mallards. An asphalt footpath connects the picnic areas, while a dedicated 1-mile paved trail accommodates hiking, cycling, jogging, and cross-country skiing. The grounds also incorporate a section of the Salt Creek Greenway Trail.
