Ye Olde Plank Inn

Long before opening in 1961, the Palm Avenue address had a storied working past—once tied to horse stables supplying the construction of Hotel Del Coronado, and later hosting markets alongside one of Southern California’s first surfboard showrooms in the early 1950s. Today, the interior leans casual with billiard tables and a few screens showing games. The room welcomes an easy mix of neighborhood fixtures and curious out-of-towners, and while the pace of bar service can vary, the unvarnished coastal energy keeps things grounded.
