Ybor City's Immigrant Story, Told One Tasting at a Time
A walk through Tampa's old cigar district where each tasting stands in for one of the four communities that built it.
Ybor City grew up around cigar factories in the 1880s, and the operator ties its tastings to the four communities it credits with building the neighborhood: Cuban, Spanish, German and Italian. A guide walks the brick streets with the group and fills in the history between plates.
The partner eateries rotate, and the operator says not every tour visits every partner. The exact stops depend on the date and on availability, and this page names the landmarks on the route while leaving the restaurants unnamed.

The booking below is the operator's three-hour afternoon walk. It is sold with a single ticket type for ages 0 to 85, and every booking needs an adult.
Historic Ybor City Food and Culture Walking TourFour food tastings and a coffee · One ticket type for ages 0 to 85 · Up to 15 travelers per bookingwww.viator.comA Cuban Sandwich, a Coffee and Three More Tastings

The operator's own count is four food tastings and one coffee tasting. Its tour page names the Cuban sandwich as one of them, with the other plates nodding to Spain, Cuba, Germany and Italy.
The Columbia Restaurant is not a stop on this walk. The operator's FAQ says the Columbia is only on its private tours and on its separate, shorter Iconic Ybor tour. Travelers who wrote about this operator's walks keep coming back to the portions, and several say they left full. The operator's own line on the booking page is short: come hungry.
The Cigar-Era Landmarks Between Tastings

The booking page lists the history stops as José Martí Park, the Italian Club of Tampa, the Ybor Factory complex, Centennial Park, the Cuban Club and the statue of Vicente Martinez Ybor where the walk meets. Each is a short stop of five to fifteen minutes, and the longest is the factory site, which the listing says stands where Vicente Martinez Ybor built his original cigar factory in 1886.
The same page describes the ground of José Martí Park as Cuban soil, dates the Cuban Club to 1902, when it was founded to serve as a mutual aid society for Cuban cigar workers, and gives 1918 as the year the Italian Club was built. Those clubs were gathering places for the same immigrant communities the tastings are paired with.
Afternoon Starts, and No Wednesdays
As of October 31, 2026, the listing sells 12:30 PM starts on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and a 1:30 PM start on Sundays. Mondays are rare: through the end of February only November 9 and December 14 show as open. Every date the listing sells through February also appears as open in the operator's own reservation system.
The listing sells no Wednesday departures at all. Both calendars close on Thanksgiving and the day after, and on December 25 and 26. The operator puts the walk at about three hours, and its FAQ describes it as time to eat, walk and explore without feeling rushed.
Dietary Swaps, Drinks, the Tip and the Pace
Vegan and gluten-free swaps need advance notice, and the operator's FAQ says they carry an extra charge. Partner eateries prepare the tastings, and the FAQ says substitutions have to be planned ahead. The booking form has a box for special requirements, which is where that request goes.
Alcohol is not included, though partner stops sell it, and the guide's tip is not included either. The listing marks the walk as suitable for all fitness levels and as workable with a stroller. The operator's tour page and FAQ say nothing about wheelchairs or strollers; the FAQ describes a relaxed pace with frequent stops for food, stories and breaks, on brick streets that call for comfortable walking shoes.
📍 The group meets at the statue of Vicente Martinez Ybor in the Centro Ybor plaza, 1600 E 7th Ave, near El Centro Español de Tampa. Arrive at least ten minutes early for check-in and give the guide the lead traveler's name. The map pin marks King Corona Cigars, a short walk west along 7th Avenue; the statue itself is the meeting point.
The operator says there is no free parking in Ybor City and points drivers to the Centro Ybor Parking Garage at 1500 E 5th Ave. Cancel at least 24 hours ahead for a full refund. The walk runs rain or shine; the listing allows cancellation for bad weather or too few travelers, and the operator says it contacts guests directly in severe weather. When the walk wraps up, the rest of the afternoon in Ybor is yours.
