Yayoi Kusama Fireflies Infinity Mirror Room
4.7 (52)museum
A dark, mirrored chamber at the Phoenix Art Museum where flickering lights multiply into an endless sea of fireflies.
Description

Rooted in Yayoi Kusama’s childhood hallucinations, the installation draws on psychedelic sensations of the self to investigate infinite repetition. Through repetitive mirrors, polka dots, and LED lights, it encourages visitors to ‘obliterate’ their personality and become one with eternity. While the enclosed mirrored space with flashing lights generates an immersive visual illusion, visitor time inside is tightly timed.
