As the U.S. outpost of China’s 36-year-old XIBEI Catering Group, the brand operates here as a tiny storefront with a few outdoor tables and benches on Sunset Boulevard. The kitchen leans into traditional craft, turning out steamed shaomai with a generous filling combining savory meatiness with a hint of sweetness, alongside chicken-and-mushroom or vegetable varieties and bowls of hot and sour soup. It offers a straightforward meal at prices notably gentler than much of Silver Lake.
