Description

Laid out in 1733 and originally named Percival Square, this early public space was later renamed for Georgia's last Royal Governor, Sir James Wright. Shaded by moss-draped live oaks, the grounds hold historical monuments such as the Gordon monument and the Tomochichi boulder, marking the gravesite of the Yamacraw leader whose relationship with Oglethorpe shaped the city's beginnings.
