Woodlawn Community Garden
5.0 (6)park
5.0 (6)Backed by Alice Waters, this neighborhood garden pairs active plots with communal berries and fruit trees.
Description
Founded in 1998, the 0.42-acre site was designed to connect Woodlawn Elementary School students and neighborhood residents with urban agriculture. Along with forty-three plots, the grounds include a children's garden classroom and a dedicated Produce for People plot. A native plant habitat and an active mason bee house round out the space, which drew Bill and Chelsea Clinton to pull weeds and meet local residents in 2008.
