Wolf Road Prairie Nature Preserve
4.7 (93)park
Sidewalks from an abandoned 1920s subdivision crisscross this rare black soil prairie, home to 360 native plant species.
Description

When development threatened again in the 1970s, concerned citizens bought the first parcel of what expanded into an 82-acre Illinois Nature Preserve. Alongside the prairie, the preserve protects savanna and wetland landscapes, widely valued for its intact native ecosystem and peaceful walking trails.
