Description

Occupying the southern third of a 54-acre peninsula on Salem Neck, the park preserves deep layers of maritime utility. The grounds hold archaeological sites over 6,000 years old, anchored Salem’s fishing trade between the 1620s and 1740s, and later operated as a Coast Guard and Sea Rescue Station until 1973. Today, the waterfront remains an active community base, outfitted with a state-owned boat ramp, a state-financed pier, and a community sailing program.
