William Edmondson Historic Homesite
attraction
The open-air workshop where sculptor William Edmondson carved his limestone figures beneath oaks he planted himself.
Description

Edmondson made history in 1937 as the first African American to earn a solo exhibit at New York's Museum of Modern Art. Today, William Edmondson Homesite Park & Gardens preserves the property where that work began, allowing visitors to stand in the exact spot where he displayed his figures in his front yard.
