White Dog Cafe - University City
4.4 (2,642)restaurant
Seasonal farm-to-table dining set across three Victorian brownstones filled with whimsical dog portraits.
Description

Founded on the University of Pennsylvania campus in 1983, the restaurant pioneered local sourcing in Philadelphia by drawing organic ingredients from farms within a 50-mile radius. Inside, the layout branches across varied spaces, ranging from an airy porch built with reclaimed wood and birdhouses to an intimate solarium draped in greenery. Menus by Executive Chef Jay Ralston shift each season alongside house-baked desserts and specialty cocktails, while private gatherings head downstairs to a cellar flanked by wine barrels and hanging corkscrews.
