The CIBC Theatre is a Broadway-in-Chicago house on West Monroe Street in the Loop, where touring productions run multi-week engagements. The bulb-framed marquee out front is a Loop landmark on show nights, and the lobby funnels crowds into a gilded auditorium.
Opened in 1906 as the Majestic Theatre, the room carries ornate plasterwork, deep balconies, and a proscenium built for full-scale musicals. It took its current name in 2017, and the upper balconies still deliver some of the sharpest sightlines in the house for patrons who book early.
Recent runs have included Hamilton and other national tours that fill the roughly 1,800 seats. Pre-theater dining sits within a short walk across the Loop, which makes an evening here easy to build around.
