Fair Park is a 277-acre National Historic Landmark east of downtown Dallas, built for the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition. The grounds hold the largest collection of Art Deco exhibition buildings in the United States, lined along a central Esplanade of reflecting basins.
After dark, floodlights wash the streamlined facades, gilded reliefs, and the Hall of State at the head of the mall, and the lit towers and murals turn the old exposition axis into an open-air gallery after the day's crowds thin.
Beyond the architecture, the park packs the Cotton Bowl stadium, several museums, and the annual State Fair of Texas with its towering Big Tex. It sits about ten minutes from downtown by car or a short ride on the DART Green Line.
