Where Rusted Gas Towers Overlook Lake Union

🏭 The old works
Gas Works Park sits on a former gasification plant on the north shore of Lake Union in Seattle, at 2101 N Northlake Way. The rusted towers and pipework of the old plant stand behind a wide green lawn, kept in place as a preserved industrial landmark.
Grassy slopes climb toward a mound with long views, and the skyline across the water sharpens into gold around sunset, when boats and seaplanes cross the lake. Picnic areas and a playground sit near the industrial remains, and the shoreline path traces the water's edge.
The 1906 plant once turned coal and oil into gas for the city, and its towers now read as sculpture over the lawn. Families spread out on the grass on clear afternoons, with downtown Seattle framed across Lake Union.
