The Westward Ribbon: A Skywide Path to Wonder

Start on the Hudson River Waterfront Greenway, where lanes separate cyclists, runners, and walkers beside the river. Continue through Riverside Park South, moving between its upper and lower levels. Finish at Hudson River Park Lookout for open water, telescopes, and a direct angle on One World Trade Center.

Three West-Facing Stops

Catch the First Glow

Begin on the Hudson River Waterfront Greenway, where a four-lane path separates cyclists, runners, and walkers beside the water. The Upper West Side stretch can get busy at peak hours, yet quiet places remain along the river. Look west before the skyline turns into silhouette. The long edge keeps the horizon in view while you settle into the route.

Shift Below

Riverside Park South runs from West 59th to West 72nd Street on the former New York Central Railroad yard. Its upper level holds playgrounds and a dog run, while the lower level brings the path close to the water. Move down a tier as the light softens. Historic rail remnants and open shoreline make this the route's broad middle frame.

Westward Pause

At Hudson River Park Lookout, the promenade opens toward the Hudson and New Jersey skyline. Telescopes sit along the waterfront, and One World Trade Center lands in the opposite view. Stay through the color change instead of chasing another stop. Walk, jog, or sit as the final light stretches across the water.
