Wekiva River Buffer Conservation Area
4.5 (119)park
A quiet trail cuts under huge hardwoods in this protected river basin, deep in black bear country.
Description

Covering the floodplain between the Wekiva and Little Wekiva rivers, this preserve holds roughly 6.5 miles of river shoreline along a designated National Wild and Scenic river basin. The landscape gathers springs, seepage areas, lakes, and wet prairies acquired to safeguard regional water quality. Because of the swampy ground, passage is pared down to a single road or trail, delivering an immersive wilderness experience that can be rustic and prone to wet conditions.
