Description

Set across Buffalo Bayou in Buffalo Bayou Park, the bridge shelters a year-round colony of Mexican free-tailed bats less than two miles west of Downtown. Colony numbers shift across the calendar, reaching their peak in summer and early fall, though a sizable population remains through the winter months. Spectators take in the evening flight from sidewalks and designated viewing platforms along the park banks, or watch directly from the water via boat tours offered by Buffalo Bayou Partnership.
