Description

Between 1921 and 1954, Italian immigrant laborer and tile mason Simon Rodia raised the Watts landmark without commercial equipment or heavy machinery. The folk-art complex extends beyond the spires to include architectural structures and gazebos, sculpted from rebar and wire mesh covered in mortar and encrusted with seashells alongside the glass, tile, and pottery.
