Catch the NYC Marathon, Bridge to Harbor

Follow the bridge shadow from a historic overlook to a runner-friendly harbor finish, with practical stops for cheering, photos, and a quick refuel.

Bridge Shadow

Fort Wadsworth sits beneath the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, where the road noise and harbor wind make the opening miles feel close. Walk the clean trails to frame runners against the bridge steel, then hold your place before the crowd thickens. Arrive before the first wave reaches the overlook for an unobstructed angle and easy retreat toward Bay Street.

Tree-lined Turn

Arthur von Briesen Park gives spectators a quieter middle vantage, with hilly paths, mature trees, and a direct view toward Fort Wadsworth. The Living Memorial Grove adds a reflective pause between bursts of cheering. Use the slope to shift your sightline without losing the course. Choose the north edge for bridge views, then follow the paths downhill when you are ready for the next section.

Harbor Finish

End at Staten Island FerryHawks on Richmond Terrace, where the waterfront ballpark keeps the finish lively after the runners pass. The open backdrop makes an easy group meetup, and the venue has an affordable ticket band if you want to stay for baseball later. Use the terrace-facing side for a clean skyline frame, then grab food nearby before heading back to the ferry.
