🎻 Hearing the score in the room

Ghostbusters is a New York movie through and through, and here the full 1984 film plays on a big screen while an orchestra on stage performs Elmer Bernstein's score in time with the picture. It is a touring show, and New York gets one night: Saturday, October 17, at 8:00 PM. Ticket prices vary by seat and seller, and the final price, fees included, shows at checkout.

🏛️ The room is half the show

United Palace opened in 1930 as the Loew's 175th Street, one of the five lavish Loew's Wonder Theatres built around New York. Walk into the lobby and the name makes sense, nearly every surface is carved, gilded or painted, with a grand staircase rising toward the balcony. Arrive a little early to take it in before the lights go down.

🚇 Getting there, and after

Take the A train to 175 St, a single block west of the theater on Broadway between 175th and 176th Streets. The film itself runs about an hour and 45 minutes, and the live performance can stretch the evening longer. Afterward, Talkin' Tacos at 4179 Broadway, a few blocks north, serves until 2:00 AM, Bar 180 at 4241 Broadway stays open until 3:00 AM on Saturdays, and Le Chéile, an Irish pub on West 181st Street, pours until 2:00 AM.
