Description

Originally established in 1971 to teach local elementary students horticulture and life skills, the grounds invite visitors of all ages to engage directly with agriculture and environmentally friendly growing techniques. Hands-on discovery unfolds across a working food production area, a pollinator habitat, and a designated Nature Explore Classroom. Beyond teaching, the plots yield thousands of pounds of fresh produce each year, all distributed to D.C. students and families to help combat food insecurity.
