Description

Tucked directly behind City Hall, this park is defined by a landscape of ancient live oaks and azaleas that drape over its grid of brick walking paths. It serves as an open-air collection of commemorative history, anchored by a 42-foot miniature obelisk dedicated to the Washington Light Infantry. Visitors encounter a variety of markers, including a bronze statue of George Washington, a memorial for fallen soldiers, and a monument to the poet Henry Timrod. The space acts as a quiet, shaded retreat from the surrounding streets, frequently used for reading or resting.
