Washington's Memorials Under Floodlights, Seen From an Open-Air Cart

Two evening hours by open-air cart from the Hamilton Hotel, with walks at the Lincoln Memorial, the Capitol and the White House.

This is a two-hour loop of the National Mall in an open-air cart that leaves the Hamilton Hotel on 14th Street NW at 7:30 PM. The guide drives and narrates, and at several memorials everyone climbs out and walks through on foot.

The only departure on the calendar is 7:30 PM, every day of the week, so there is no daytime run to book. The listing's blurb still mentions daytime hours. Reviewers who went in August describe setting off just before sunset and finishing in the dark, with the floodlights doing the work on the buildings.

The booking below is for a shared cart. It takes up to seven people per booking, and children 4 to 11 pay the adult price. Cancel at least 24 hours ahead for a full refund.

Lincoln, Korean War and Vietnam Memorials on Foot

At the west end of the Mall, everyone climbs out to walk through the Korean War Veterans Memorial to the Lincoln Memorial and through the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial is another walk-through, and the FDR Memorial is listed as optional.

The Washington Monument, the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the Potomac are drive-bys, seen from the cart. The listing budgets about fifteen minutes per stop. A September reviewer called some stops brief and said the description is accurate about that.

Capitol Hill and the White House Front

On Capitol Hill the cart lets you out to walk past the Supreme Court, the front of the Capitol and the Library of Congress. At the White House you step out by Lafayette Square and walk to the front for photos, with St. John's Church in view.

Who Drives and Talks

The operator's own site names its founder, Dr. Yohannes Zeleke, and describes him as an archaeologist and anthropologist and a former curator of the National Museum of Ethiopia. Most reviewers who name a guide name him, and several mention him drawing their children into the stories.

The listing does not promise which guide you get: the operator says it works with associate guides, and a reviewer in April 2026 named a guide called Roy. One reviewer in March 2026 found the guide hard to understand, and another in April suggested that anyone hard of hearing sit closer to the driver.

Cold Nights and Event Nights

The listing says the tour runs in all weather and asks you to dress for it, and it also marks the tour as one that can be called off for poor weather. The cart is open at the sides.

A reviewer in November 2024 found the ride too cold and windy once the sun went down, and one in December 2024 said there were blankets on board. Big events on the Mall can stop a run. Around the Fourth of July in 2026 a booked tour was canceled, and the operator's reply to that guest blamed memorial closures for the holiday event. The memorials themselves stay open around the clock, and the Park Service keeps rangers at the sites until 10:00 PM.
