Description

Long before its formal acquisition in the mid-2000s through the Legacy Open Space program, the grounds had already served as de facto public parkland for decades. The estate operated as a private residence until the late 1940s, when it was converted into a nursing home. Recognized on the National Register of Historic Places as a primary resource within the Kensington Historic District, the site was preserved to safeguard the surrounding landscape and secure a public benefit through the adaptive reuse of its historic buildings.
