Description

Spanning 170 acres along Sauvie Island's western edge, the grounds can be reached from the Sauvie Island Road parking area or by boat from Hadley’s Landing on the Multnomah Channel. A riverside forest along the channel shelters Pacific wrens and red-breasted sapsuckers, giving way to wetland plants around Virginia Lake where buffleheads, mallards, and wood ducks gather. A picnic shelter sits a quarter-mile from the lot, while a viewing platform opens toward the water and trails run down to the landing, where belted kingfishers and osprey fish along the channel.
