Description

Drawn from the private collection of working holographer Robert A. (Bob) Hess, the museum—also known as the Laser History Museum—preserves and displays the evolution of laser technology and holography. Hardware on view includes a prototype of the first commercial laser, vintage laser pointers, glass plasma tubes, and early construction lasers. The holographic works span the first published hologram from the 1967 World Book Science Year, life-sized pulsed laser portraits, animated holograms from Logan's Run, and a Starship Enterprise hologram made for Star Trek: The Motion Picture. The site also houses a working modern holography lab.
