Description

Transformed from a vacant lot through the Project Welcome Home campaign, the park centers on the B-52G Stratofortress "Midnight Express", an aircraft that flew in Operation Linebacker II and spent 28 years at Paine Field before its restoration. Visitors can inspect the bomber up close, framed as a reminder of the nearly 10,000 U.S. military aircraft lost during the war. Beside it stands James J. Nance’s airman statue holding a folded flag, balancing those who returned with those who did not. Along the footpath encircling the plane, a Tribute Wall of personalized plaques records the names and ranks of service members.
