Victorian Flatbush Walk to Three Cortelyou Stops
A neighborhood walk from grand Victorian houses to three current Cortelyou and Church Avenue places for a drink, a plate, or a pie.
Houses first, Cortelyou after
Start with the houses, not the reservation. Prospect Park South and the Albemarle-Buckingham streets make the first half a slow look up; Cortelyou Road supplies the practical reward. This is a walk for noticing a block, then deciding whether the finish is a craft cocktail, a plated breakfast, or pizza on Church Avenue.
The route: look up first, eat after
Prospect Park South gives this route its first act: grand Victorian houses, broad lawns, and a reason to slow down. From there, the food-and-drink stops begin at 1213 Cortelyou Road and continue east toward 1603 Cortelyou Road before ending at 905 Church Avenue. Save the map for the handoff: the walk is the point, but the order keeps the decision simple.
The Castello Plan
The first Cortelyou stop is the one that turns a walk into a sit-down: craft cocktails, a warm plate, and a string-lit patio when the weather cooperates. Doors open at 11:00 AM on weekdays and 10:00 AM on weekends, and the kitchen runs to midnight on Friday and Saturday, so this works as either a mid-walk pause or the whole evening.

Cafe Madeline
Come here when the walk starts early. Cafe Madeline serves a plated breakfast from 7:00 AM every day and closes at 6:00 PM, which makes it the daylight stop rather than the nightcap. It is the only stop open seven mornings a week, so it anchors the route when the other two are still closed.

Wheated
The Church Avenue finish trades cocktails for pizza and bourbon. Check the calendar before you commit: Wheated is closed Monday and Tuesday, opens at 5:00 PM Wednesday through Saturday, and closes an hour earlier on Sunday. Plan the houses for the afternoon and this for the end of the day.

Pick the finish that fits the walk
Not everyone wants the walk to end at a bar. If you are out with someone who would rather sit down for a proper dinner, or you just need a quiet caffeine stop before heading home, these two Flatbush Avenue places pick up where the route leaves off.
