Vera Katz Park
park
Wrapped around the Armory, this Pearl District sliver park features basalt water channels and built-in wood benches.
Description

Water emerges from a sculptural font stone at the sidewalk’s high point, guided down the slope through interconnected walls that finish at a flow-through planter with native planting. The dark basalt echoes the rustic masonry of the historic National Guard Armory it borders—the home of Portland Center Stage and the first renovated building nationwide to achieve LEED Platinum status. Tucked between the stone runs, custom concrete and ipe seating serves as quiet resting spots and casual stages for the theatrically minded.
