Vecna, Pinhead and Art the Clown Haunt Universal Studios Hollywood After Dark
One ticket, one night: eight haunted houses, the Terror Tram onto the studio backlot and scare actors loose in the streets.
Halloween Horror Nights is a separately ticketed night event inside Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles. This listing sells the event ticket itself: one general admission per person, for a single date you choose. The evening option starts at 7:00 PM, when the event opens. The afternoon option adds daytime park entry from 2:00 PM on the same date.
Universal warns the event may be too intense for young children and does not recommend it for anyone under 13. The listing sells tickets for ages 13 and up only, and Universal's code of conduct enforces Los Angeles County's nighttime curfew, so minors need an adult with them after 10:00 PM.
Universal also says expectant mothers and anyone with heart conditions or abnormal blood pressure, a sensitivity to strobe or fog effects, or a fear of enclosed spaces should not go through the haunted houses.

Universal lists eight haunted houses for 2026, and five come from film and television. Stranger Things 5 sends you past Demogorgons and the Mind Flayer to Vecna. In Sinners, vampires crash the party. Hellraiser draws on the original trilogy, with Pinhead and his Cenobites. Evil Dead Burn is built on the new film, and Killer Klowns from Outer Space brings back the clowns of the 1988 film.
The other three are Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness, set in the rock singer's world; Killceañera: Music by SLASH, where a birthday girl calls up spirits to take revenge on school bullies at her quinceañera; and Dead, Deader, Deadest, where the residents of the Deville Family Funeral Home rise after an embalming drug backfires.
The Terror Tram carries riders onto the backlot, where Art the Clown has hijacked it for a Christmas of his own. Scare actors also roam the park streets in scare zones. A traveler in late September 2026 singled out the Ozzy Osbourne and Stranger Things houses as the most frightening.
Two Ways In, Neither With Express Lines
The evening ticket covers the event from its 7:00 PM start until closing. Universal's event calendar lists every remaining night, October 21 to 25 and October 28 to November 1, as 7:00 PM to 2:00 AM, with times subject to change. Universal's ticket page notes that general admission does not include early event access.
The afternoon ticket adds daytime park admission from 2:00 PM, then early event access: Sinners, Hellraiser, Evil Dead Burn, Stranger Things 5 and Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness from 5:00 PM, and the Terror Tram from 6:15 PM, all subject to change. The listing says to collect a wristband at the front gate to stay in the park all day.
Neither option includes Universal Express, the separate shorter line Universal sells for each house. Travelers who went without it describe waits measured in hours. One in October 2025 wrote that the haunted house lines were "hours long," and another that month said some rides meant "literally hours waiting." Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is not included during the event on either ticket.
Universal lists six rides that stay open on event nights: The Simpsons Ride, Revenge of the Mummy, TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D, Flight of the Hippogriff, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey until 11:15 PM, and Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge from 7:00 to 10:00 PM only.
Hollywood Only, on the Date You Picked
This ticket works only at Universal Studios Hollywood in California, and the listing says it cannot be used at Universal Orlando Resort. Between 2022 and 2025, several travelers who meant to go to the Orlando event bought this one by mistake and wrote that they could not get it moved or refunded.
Through this booking, a cancellation at least 24 hours before the date gets a full refund, and a later one gets nothing. Universal's ticket terms, repeated on the listing, call the ticket non-refundable and non-exchangeable, rule out date changes and say the event runs rain or shine with no rain checks. The ticket is valid only for the person named on it, and staff may ask for photo ID at the gate.
Costumes Welcome, Masks Left at Home
Costumes are allowed on event nights under Universal's 2026 guidelines. Masks and any covering over the face are not, and face paint can cover no more than half the face, applied vertically. Prosthetic makeup, gory costumes, prop weapons, stilts, veils, long trains and oversized outfits are also out, and a costume cannot be wider than 25 inches or taller than 80 inches to clear metal detection.
Everyone passes through metal detection before Universal CityWalk or the park, and bags can be x-rayed. Universal's code of conduct bars outside bottled water and snacks during separately ticketed events, and the listing says no outside food or drinks. A traveler in September 2026 described new security screening and a fence around CityWalk. Inside the haunted houses, Universal bans food, drinks, bottles, recording, flash photography, flashlights and laser pens.
The listing marks the event wheelchair accessible, and Universal's accessibility page says its attraction queues and park entrances are accessible to wheelchair users. For the haunted houses, a 2026 guide to the event reports that the Lower Lot house queues are not wheelchair accessible and that guests using wheelchairs there collect return times near the exit of Revenge of the Mummy. Guests whose disability keeps them from long waits in line can request a queue accommodation through an IBCCES Individual Accessibility Card, registered at least 48 hours before the visit. A traveler in October 2025 wrote that staff told them no queue accommodation was available for their autistic son at the event. The listing also rates it suitable for all fitness levels, and a traveler in 2024 logged more than 26,000 steps between 5:00 PM and 2:15 AM.

Food, drinks and carnival games inside the park cost extra. Universal CityWalk sits right next to the park entrance, with restaurants and Universal Cinema to fill the hours before the 7:00 PM start.
