University District P-Patch Community Garden

4.7 (22)park

A former parking lot turned lush community garden, where 46 plots and dwarf apple trees spill out to the sidewalk.

Description

Spanning 14,400 square feet, the grounds have been cultivated since 1976 through decades of heavy-duty composting and organic gardening. Active food production and herbs fill out the interior, complemented by dwarf apple trees planted in the parking strips that spill outward for passersby along the sidewalk.
