Two Tremont Street Theatres, One Intimate and One Versailles-Scale

Picking a Boch Center show means picking a room first, a 1,600-seat house or the gilded one across the street.

Two theatres, one Tremont block.

Both Theatres on Tremont Street

The Shubert, the Intimate Room

The Shubert opened in 1910 and seats about 1,600. The back row sits closer to the stage than in most touring houses. The box office runs Tuesday through Saturday, 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Touring Broadway, comedy, and music all land on this stage. Tickets are mid-priced, and student offers are available. Concessions inside sell snacks and alcohol.

The Wang, Built on Versailles Scale

Across Tremont Street, the Wang carries 1920s detail modeled on Versailles, a painted ceiling and a domed lobby worth arriving early for. The room pairs that scale with acoustics built for touring stage shows. The box office keeps the same Tuesday through Saturday window, 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Ticket prices change without notice. Confirm before you travel.

Choosing Between the Two

The two houses sit at 265 and 270 Tremont Street, close enough that a wrong turn costs about a minute. The Shubert suits shows that reward sightlines, the Wang suits shows that reward scale. Both run the same Tuesday through Saturday box office hours. Checking which stage a tour is playing matters more than picking a favorite building.
